¨  3 TO 6 DAY TRIP - RODS AND REELS   ¨

When you are looking to purchase new gear; the rods, reels and monofilament pound test that are recommend in the list will form a foundation for discussing tackle purchases with a reputable tackle store representative. Comparable products by other manufacturers can be recommended by your favorite tackle store. Take your time and feel comfortable about purchasing your rods and reels because they are very expensive and should not be bought in haste. If you need the name and phone number of a tackle store in your area, please call the office. Click Here

¨  7 TO 12 DAY TRIP - RODS AND REELS   ¨

For longer trips we recommend the incorporation of three more rigs to your quiver of rods and reels. These rigs all have Berkley Trilene’s Hollow Braid Spectra backing with mono filament top shots. Roller guides, gimbals and reel seats with clamps are recommended for your rods. When you fish with heavy gear, large forces are exerted. You need to practice with your rod and reel in conjunction with your harness in the calm atmosphere of your garage, rather than when 100 pound plus fish are rolling through the corner. Be proficient, in casting sardine and mackerel size baits, moving your rod into your gimbal, after imitating hooking a fish, going from high gear to low and then pulling with the gear. Practicing on your car or a low eyehook attached to the wall is a great imitation for fishing heavy cows. Set your drag so that line will peel off when you lift and get comfortable with your gear! ¨  3 TO 6 DAY TRIP - TERMINAL TACKLE   ¨

The list we have developed will cover your needs on 99% of your terminal tackle needs on a long-range trip. The Southern California tackle stores are well know for their professionalism, and they always provide good advice. There are manufacturers, styles of terminal tackle that will vary from our list.
